Guamanian Fiesta Delight : Labor Day Weekend brought our family and friends to a BBQ Competition. I cooked, of course ... I entered BBQ Chicken, Beef Shishkabobs and Pork Ribs into the competition. Everybody wanted to know the secret Guamanian recipe. They'll have to go to Guam to get it, right? Thank you, Maria B, for taking all these great photos!

Our First Pig Roast : August 5-6, 2005 - Now why would we do such a thing? Have a pig roast in the backyard! What would the neighbors think?
When we vacationed in the Philippines, there was a pig roast for my Dad's birthday and retirement party. Well ... Wayne was inspired and motivated. He swore he was going to do it at home. So we did. He ordered a 125-pounder from Silvana Meats, cleaned out and gutted. He picked it up on a Friday night. My brother and his family were vacationing from California and got in on the action. It took 12 hours to cook that sow ... you'll see me in my pajamas turning the bamboo pole. (Thank you Bamboo Gardener for making it all happen!) The next day, we had about 25 people come on over and feast. We cut up all the meat and gave it away to all our friends and family who were able to show up.
Next year, we hope to see you - maybe you'd like to camp out with us, roast marshmallows and a big pig. So bring your tent and sleeping bags; we've got lots of room.
